How to install windows on your mac for free.

note: I am not responsible for your actions if you follow this tutorial, It is illegal to
download copyrighted files via torrent. This is all fiction and shouldn't be carried out , it is how people WOULD go about it if they want to get it all free.

Step 1: go to tpb windows, for windows XP

you can get vista, just search for windows vista torrent ISO.

Step 2: Download a BitTorrent Client, I use transmission as it is easy fast and free
you can download it Here

Step 3: Install The BitTorrent Client (open the .Dmg and drag Transmission to your applications folder

Step 4: Download the torrent: The torrent file should only be a few KB and take a few seconds

Step 5: Open the torrent with Transmission (drag the torrent onto the Transmission app)

Step 6: The file should begin downloading. (it will be around 700mb and might take a day or two depending on your internet connection.

Step 7: Download Parallels from here it is about 100mb so it might take some time

Step 8: Download this torrent , it contains a serial for Parallels aswell as serials for every mac application !

Step 9: Install Parallels and put in the serial number

Step 10: When Windows is finished downloading continue on.

Step 11: Open Parallels

Step 12: Click on New

Step 13: Click on Windows Express (it should be default) then next..

Step 14: Click XP or vista depending on what you downloaded.

Step 15: When Prompt for the windows Product Key try the key here: for xp
and here for Vista (these may not work but should more than likely and for the name enter Admin. now click next. You can also leave this blank and see if you actually get asked for a key.

Step 16: Name the virtual machine "windows xp" or "windows vist" (this is just for you.

You can enable file sharing if you wish to share files between your mac and virtual machine (this is optional)

You can also enable user profile sharing ( I dont do this as it clutters my desktop but its up to you

now click Virtual Machine

Click Next

Step 17: Now click on more options, Select ISO image and click choose, now look for your windows ISO that you downloaded with a torrent ( should be on your desktop unless you changed where its stored.

Step 18: Click Finish and you should see on screen how to finish the installation its the same as using a brand new pc so you shouldn't have any difficulties. if you encounter any problems leave a comment and il try my best to help you out.

Step 19: Enjoy windows.

Step 20: If you use it regularly (for work etc..) go out and buy parallels as it is a great application and is well worth the $100
and buy Windows legally as well (it may not be worth the $150 but it may be worth that for your use)

• Open up terminal (Apps > Utilities > Terminal or Just type terminal in spotlight)

• Now click on "Terminal" on the top right of your screen (next to the apple logo)

• Now click Window Settings

• A pop up window should appear, click on the drop down bar (should say "shell") and select color

• Now pimp away, my settings are:

Crusor: White
Selection: Grey
Normal Text: Bright Green
Bold Text: Bright Blue
Background color: Black

• Transparency: 45%

• Now click "use settings as defaults"

• Now quit terminal and restart your mac

Click Launch iWeb Now when your done editing you site just save as normal.

Now next time you want to edit the site just fire up Multisite for iWeb, Click the

Freeze any mac screen - Easy and Safe Prank

Open up Preview from your applications folder

Click on File>Grab>Timed ScreenShot

Hide the mouse off screen and wait a few seconds

when the screenshot is taken go to View>Slideshow

Now drag the navigation box off screen
(bottom corner seems to work well)

Now leave the mac, and for whoever uses it next,
it seems like the whole computer froze.

To "unfreeze" the mac you can either,

Press Command (apple key) + Q (the shortcut to quit)

or

Find the navigation dialogue you hid in the bottom corner

or

If your to idiotic to do either of the above just restart
the mac (hold down the mac power button for 7 seconds.

Here are a few SnapShots of my MacBook, I am using it with about 6 months now. I did however own a white macbook before hand so I was familiar with it. My last macbook broke (through no fault of its own or mine) long story. Anyway I swapped all the keys, the trackpad button, Added a blue apple logo and 2 Hak.5 Stickers. I cant seem to think of any more mods really although I did order a felt sticker for around the trackpad area witch should be coming in the post soon. So Leave a comment and let me know what you think of it and/or what I could do to improve it. I also Sprayed my white charger Black and some people think its cheesey but I like it so yeh ! lol. Also are there any case mods for the back of my book that add like a grove like in the Dell XPS or Alianware stuff. There really hot lol. Anyways thnx for reading :)

So on pcs its quite easy to ping a url, You open up command (Start>Run>cmd) and type ping www.thewebsiteyouwanttoping.com and hit enter, but few people know how to ping a website on a mac. It is very easy, All you have to do is open your applications folder, Go to the Utilities folder towards the bottem of the list of apps, Then open "Network Utility" app. Now click on Ping on the top of the network utility, Then enter the url you want to ping and click on Ping. Simple as that.

Opera 9.5 For Mac - Pimp your mac review

So if you have read my previous post on mac browsers I gave opera a mere 6.5 out of 10 Rating and I recommended Firefox 3 and Camino to all mac users. Things have changed slightly with Opera 9.5. The looks being the main thing. Its HOTT, Really hot. The only problem is the sacrafice of a bookmarks bar, but the scarafice may be worth it. The interface is a darker grey than all the other mac browsers (with out themes) and its looking very good. Another diference is the URL and google search bar are positioned below the Tabs, This you may think is confusing but it really is very easy to adjust to. The browsing is Fast and the majority* of websites display properly although i have seen some sites showing slightly altered and some buttons (eg. the publishpost and Savenow) on the screen are deformed.

Overall, if you don't want to use firefox (whatever the reason) and you want some compition for camino, I highly recommend you check out Opera 9.5 . I have not tried out Flock yet, so when I get around to it I will let you all know.

Tutorial: Ultimate Mac Desktop Pimping - Clean, Hi-Tech and Quick

This is my second time having to write this tut (weird error), so excuse me if its slightly rushed.

Step 1: Manage all the files on your desktop. Eg. if you have a lot of documents on your desktop, Change the icon size down (Command + J) , Select all ( Command + A ) and go to View>Clean up section. Now Create a new folder on your desktop called Projects. Create subfolders inside of it named Word, Excel, Photoshops etc.. for all your main docs and then make a "other" folder aswell for the rest of your files. Now move all your docs to their matching folder. This should all talk less than 5 mins.

Now you can move on to step two or you can really clear your desktop by deleting any apps on your desktop or any alias's you have, (maybe move them to the dock) just be sure you have backups.

Step 2: Clearing the desktop fully. for this step you will need a app called DeskShade. Its a Free app that hides every thing on your desktop with the click of a button / Keybord shortcut. It has many other features but this is the only one we will need for this tutorial.

When you download and install deskshade you will see a icon in the top nav bar of your mac, click this and click "Cover Desktop" now you have a fully uncluttered desktop, to uncover it simply click and uncheck "Cover Desktop"

Step 3: Theming: To install a theme on your mac, you will need a app called "ShapeShifter" it costs $19.99, You can try a demo out here . You can find out more about shapeshifter here . When you have it installed you can download tons of themes for your mac, The one i am using is below:

MacTips reader Bret wrote in and asked how to modify the folder icons in OS X. The default icons look great, but change is always nice.

There are two basic ways to modify your icons, the long hard manual way and the super easy way.

Hard Way: Manually Changing Your Icons

Manually changing your icons is as simple as copying and pasting icons from one Get Info window to another.

Press Command+I while selecting an application/folder you’d like to duplicate an icon for
In the top left corner, click the icon so the edges become blue
Press Command+C to copy the icon
Now press Command+I while selecting an application/folder you’d like to change
Press Command+V to paste the new icon
You should see the icon appear quickly in both the icon and preview spots

This method has a couple problems. First I found issues copying a plain icon file, so using a new icon can be tricky.

If you want to customize a single folder or application, this is a great method.

However, if you wanted to modify all of your icons system-wide, this would be extremely slow.

Thankfully, there is a better way.

Easy Icon Replacement with LiteIcon

LiteIcon is from the creator of AppCleaner, an application for cleaning up abandoned application files.

LiteIcon has two methods of changing icons–manually with drag-and-drop and automatically with iContainers.

Drag-and-drop makes it possible to replace individual icons as you see fit. This method is much easier than the method listed above and works nearly every time.

Simply drag an icon onto the icon you wish to replace. That’s it!

The other method is using iContainers. These are icon sets that can be applied to all system icons. This makes updating all system icons much easier.

iContainers are a little more difficult to find than straight icons. There are however, a couple of sites that offer these: IconFactory, DeviantART, Pixelgirl or Google.

To make your icons live click Apply changes and enter your password when prompted.

The last step is clicking Relaunch Finder. You may have to log-out and back in to see the effects.

A side note is by Control+Clicking an icon or using File -> Restore all icons you can restore your icons back to default–so don’t be afraid of messing anything up.

Modifying my icons wasn’t high on my list of things to-do, but it’s extremely refreshing having a new set of icons. Especially a gorgeous set like Float by Corey Marion (a few shown below).

The best part is LiteIcon is free. There is both a Tiger and Leopard version available–enjoy!

Working with Text and Text editiors more efficently on your mac

Here are two handy tips for working in text editors, guaranteed to increase your productivity.

Lewis writes:

Holding alt whilst dragging in the mouse in a cocoa text editor will change the cursor to a crosshair and allow you to ‘block’ select text in a square. This is particularly useful when working with tabular data.

As Lewis notes, this is a handy tip when working with tabular data and also when removing the first a column of characters in a text block.

This works in most text applications, including TextEdit and Word. Unfortunately there are some other text editors that don’t seem to support this, like ecto and ~~TextMate~~ (Update: It looks like in TextMate you press ALT once. Thanks everyone!).

New 3G iPhone Review - Im getting one :)

Almost one year after the original Apple iPhone went on sale, Apple CEO Steve Jobs has announced a 3G version of the device, finally putting to rest months of rumors and speculation. While some of the rumors panned out--the new handset will offer full GPS--other rumors, like the addition of a 32GB model, fizzled. But even with the long list of basic features that Apple still is denying us (hello, multimedia messaging?), the addition of 3G support is a big win. If data speeds hold up as Jobs demonstrated (more on that later), the new iPhone really will put the Internet in your pocket. We also approve of the new price: $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB version, a pleasing price for all but the poor souls who shelled out nearly $600 a year ago. The new iPhone will go on sale July 11.

Design
Though the iPhone 3G is thinner at the edges than its predecessor, the phone measures a hair thicker (0.48 inches versus 0.46 inches) in the gut. The other measurements are the same except that it weighs just the slightest bit less (4.7 ounces versus 4.8 ounces). Otherwise, the iPhone 3G shows few cosmetic changes from the front--same display size and resolution, and the single Home button sits just below the screen. We're very pleased to see that Apple has done away with the irritating recessed headphone jack, which now is flush so that you'll be able to use any 3.5mm headphones you like.

But turn over the iPhone 3G, and you'll see more significant changes. A black, plastic skin replaces the current silver-aluminum back. The swap may cut the cost, but we worry about its long-term durability. The 8GB model will come in black only, while Apple promises the 16GB version in black and white. The white model is a bit random--we were expecting something in red--but color is a personal choice. The camera lens, volume rocker, charger port, speaker, microphone, power button, and display locking switch show no changes. Our News.com colleague got a hands-on with the new device and reports that it feels similar in the hand to the current model, with the exception of the tapered edges.

3G
With support for three 3G bands (850, 1900, 2100) and both UMTS and HSDPA networks, the iPhone 3G is well positioned for using high-speed networks all around the world. Considering that Apple is promising to bring the device to 70 countries, it had better be. During his WWDC keynote, Jobs demonstrated Web download speeds between the two iPhones. On the original model, which runs on a 2.5G EDGE network, a photo-heavy Web site loaded in 59 seconds, while the same site loaded in 21 seconds on the new device--impressive, but we take it with a grain of salt for now. Real-world tests, particularly with a multitude of devices flooding the same network, will be more telling.

GPS
This is one feature that was on our original iPhone wish list. While the current iPhone location services find your position via nearby cell phone towers and satellites, the iPhone 3G uses Assisted GPS supplemented by satellites. It also offers live tracking so you can monitor your progress as you drive (or walk) along. We're excited to see this feature as well, as it fills in another gaping hole on the original handset. You'll also find photo geotagging, and third-party applications with turn-by-turn directions are in the works.

Third-party apps
Speaking of which, the iPhone 3G will indeed support the collection of apps available through the iPhone SDK--no surprise here. Apple promises to open an apps store in early July (Apple didn't release an exact date); we're guessing by July 11. Gaming apps should feature prominently; many will integrate with the phone's accelerometer.

Enterprise support
Worker bees will be pleased to know that the iPhone 3G will offer support for Microsoft Exchange Server. That will bring push e-mail, contacts and calendar, remote wipe, global contacts access, and auto-discovery. That's another welcome change as it puts the iPhone in the hands of a whole new class of corporate users who now will be able to get their work e-mail on the iPhone.

Battery life
Last year Jobs said that Apple had not included 3G in the first iPhone because it would have made too many compromises with the handset's battery life. But now it appears that Apple has solved that problem. The iPhone 3G promises a solid 5 hours of 3G talk time, 10 hours of 2G talk time, 5 hours of 3G Internet time, 6 hours of Wi-Fi Internet time, 7 hours of video playback, 24 hours of audio playback, and 12.5 days standby time. The audio and video times are unchanged from the original iPhone.

What else?
Since the latest iPhone will support the 2.0 software, additional new features will show up at launch and beyond, including contacts search, iWork document support, the capability to view PowerPoint attachments, bulk move and delete, a scientific calculator in landscape mode, parental controls, and support for 16 languages. You'll also be able to use a graffiti-style application for entering characters in Asian languages.

What's missing?
Unfortunately, we hoped for an even larger bundle of features in this round. Apple still leaves multimedia messaging out of the mix along with voice dialing and video recording. We still don't understand why Apple can't include these basic features, many found in even the cheapest and simplest cell phones. We were also hoping for a landscape keyboard, the capability to cut and paste, Flash support for the Safari Web browser, expanded memory, and additional Bluetooth profiles. Apple, you left us hanging in a big way. It's also disappointing to hear that the dock is now sold separately for $49, but we suppose that helped cut the price. No, you don't need the dock, but it's nice to have. Even the power adapter and the SIM card removal tool that now come in the box won't make up for its loss.

Should you buy it?
If you're an iPhone fence-sitter, now's the time. The addition of 3G and GPS, the affordable price tag, and extra features from the iPhone 2.0 software update make the iPhone 3G a worthy prospect. Unlike the previous iPhone, which we liked and recommended with reservations, we're much happier with what this new handset has to offer. iPhone 3G isn't perfect, but there's a lot to like here and we approach the device with much anticipation. We'll update this page with a full, rated review once we get our hands on the hardware.

Quick Mac Shortcut of the Day - Open Sound Preference pane

Hey, I just stumbled upon a keyboard shortcut that brings up the sound preference pane. Just hit Option+F5. From here, you can adjust the volume of your sound alerts, system output volume and microphone input volume.

The option key is located on the bottom left of your keybord between the ctrl key and the command (Apple) key.

Web Browsers - Firefox 3, Safari 3, Camino or Opera

Hey, as i said this is my very first blog. I noticed that it was geting well listed in google but i was still deciding on giving up on it… until i just checked the stats. ha It got 13 views a day on average with NO advertising anywhere. So I decided im going to keep it running and keep writing.

So down to the question. Firefox 3, Safari 3, Camino or Opera?

Well, I started off like all mac users using Safari, and there is next to nothing at all wrong with it. It looks good enough and it is fairly fast. It also seems to read most content the way it is designed and the media plays fairly well on it.

Then Like most computer users, I got Firefox 2 when their big advertising campign was launched. Personally I thought it was really ugly and after using it for about 2 months, I went back to Safari. It was fast, maybe not faster than safari, but the looks really put me off.

Then I found opera and fell in love. It was sleek and stylish and fairly fast. Also the homepage sold it for me. At this time safari was taking up to 15 seconds to launch and i couldnt be bothered speeding it up so I used opera for months. It was brilliant at first but after time it became slightly slugish and the origional thrill was gone.

A few months later after reading some random off-topic forum I saw a link to Camino. So me being me just had to check it out. I downloaded it and I was in love. It was Sleeker, Sexier, Faster and Better than all my previous browsers. And after using it for months and months I have yet to find many flaws. It is REALLY BRILLIANT!

But then the day came…”Firefox download day” Firefox 3 was going to be realiced. So I along wit millions of users pleged to download it. And when the day came, I was the first person in Ireland to download it. Well I it said 0 Downloads and then after installing it was like at 300 Irish Downloads, but anyway, My whole camino relationship well, I had a bit of an affair. Firefox 3 WAS AMAZINGER <>

So a summery for you:

Firefox 3 and Camino ARE the best browsers for your mac.

Opera Comes in a close Second

And :O shock, Safari a close third.

Virtual Dj v4.3 For Mac - Review, Download, Tips and Tricks.

Ok after years of wishing and some searching, I could never find a Mac version of VDJ, I have it installed on my vista machine running in parallels but the music skips. Then the other day while on the pirate bay I saw Virtual DJ for Mac OS X. I was amazed but I didn’t beleve my eyes, So I downloaded the torrent and opened it and to my suprise it WAS virtual dj ! but because this was illegal I deleted all the virtual dj stuff off my computer and went searching for a legal version. Because we all know that automix productions REALLY NEED my $249 for a piece of software despite being mega mega millionares. ;). So I searched and searched but on Google The results were shocking! the First two were from Virtual Djs official site, but they were The VDJ forum and a add-ons page. NOTHING TO DO WITH VDJ FOR MAC :S:S:S. Next in the list was a link to brothersoft “Virtual dj for mac Free Download” Is how the title read but unfortunily like most brothersoft b/s this link just lead to a bunch of ads and a link to the pc version of VDJ. Next Link down is another site advertising the pc version of Virtual Dj, But the next link is just Great… ThePirateBay, The only link I could find for virtual dj for mac was a torrent with a illegal file. 1 link for the 5.0 beat (not sure if its real) and the other for v4.3 witch i know works.

So now that im done complaining about finding the product, lets get to the review. It is really a very good app, and yes I plan on using it for our future gigs. It has all the basic, standard features of all the virtual dj apps. Interface changes, Auto Beat matching (witch is not quite as good as the v5.0 pc version but does its job) Sampler and Effects. But some features are lacking eg. Beat Grid and Equiliser. All the preferences are there and the playback is smooth. Also the video dj secion isn’t up to scratch with only 3 transitions and 3 effects, altho i am sure plug-ins are available.

But over all this app is on a mac (macbook ) and doesn’t quit/freeze easily. It is sturdy and has nearly everything a bedroom / mobile Dj requires and for a starter club dj it may also be suitable. And as I said I plan on using it for our dj business. So Deffinitly check it out and I will keep you posted when the v5.0 comes out of beta.

Downloading Youtube Videos on your mac

ok so you are browsing youtube and you spot a video that you really like but you dont have time to watch it, or you watch it and its so amazing you just need to download it. The question is how? Well there are a few solutions, You can download the flash file from your browser and then find a way to convert it but that can get very messy. Lukely for you there are two solutions : Vixy and Tooble .

Both apps have their good and bad sides. Vixy is a very simple app that does what it says and does it very well. Where as Tooble is a more “attempt” at a all in one app. With Vixy you simply copy the youtube video url from your browser, select your format (avi, mov, mp4, 3gp or just .flv) Witch are all you need to watch the video on your Mac, Pc, iPod, Psp, iPhone, Phone and more…

Tooble offers many of the same features but the built in video browser seems to be pointless and just gets in the way. It offers you a neat menu to browse featured videos along with lots of other generes and even search for videos but when you double click on a video to watch it, it just opens it in your browser. There is a search although it isn’t quite as good as the proper youtube search. Tooble also offers the feature of entering a url from youtube and converting it but the converson options are limited compared to vixys converter. Tooble offers .Mov and .Mp4 only. With the only options, Desktop, iPod video and iPod Touch/iPhone.

Tooble does have one advantage for dial-up users tho. When you are downloading a video using Vixy and your connection is very slow, The whole download will cut off, where as with tooble it will continue…very slowly.

Over all both apps do their job, but in my opinion vixy (Beta) comes out on top, and I look forward to when it comes out of BETA.
